Estima-se que aproximadamente 12 milhões de brasileiros (cerca de 5,8% da população) enfrentem depressão. Além disso, os transtornos de ansiedade também são muito comuns, afetando cerca de 9,3% da população, o que coloca o Brasil como o país mais ansioso do mundo, segundo a OMS.
A depressão pode se manifestar de diferentes formas, como depressão maior, distimia e transtorno afetivo sazonal. Além disso, os episódios depressivos também são característicos do transtorno bipolar.
Sintomas da depressão
Nem todos que sofrem de depressão experimentam os mesmos sintomas. A gravidade e a duração dos sintomas variam entre os indivíduos. Entre os principais sinais da depressão estão:
